Looking for Stability in Your Career: Electricians Wanted

This past week I was enjoying my central air and noticed my lamp light flicker only for the power to go out. I went downstairs to check the fuse box, but nothing was blown. Turns out the whole block had lost power on a beautiful, sunny summer day? How did this happen? I can't properly answer that, but as my block and I saw the electrician drive by, it wasn't long before our power was back on.

As I researched why our power was out, I took note of how many electricians job postings there were on the Internet. Needless to say, it got me thinking. Being an electrical testing technician is a good job to have, a reliable one too. When I think of job stability I immediately think of jobs in the medical field. Then again, we're always going to need electricity and people there to fix down power lines or figure why the damaged line went out. It seems they make pretty good money as well.

A certified electrician is different from an electrical engineer, however. That's one of those things you don't realize until you do some research. That is unless you knew this information already. The difference is an engineer said that they wouldn't feel comfortable doing a repair service like an electrician is trained to do. They both undergo extensive training and do have reputable jobs.

Trust me, if you have felt the weight of the economy, you're looking for the stable jobs that make decent money. In an avoidance of going back to school for additional degrees, getting a certification wouldn't take as long as a degree, though, is what I'm thinking. Find a specialization too. That helps one stand out amongst other electricians. Whether pursuing an online degree or receiving your training through third parties, there is a lot to learn about becoming a certified electrician. Make sure the government recognizes the education system you choose. Similar with online degrees and universities, if they aren't accredited, it's not worth your time or money.

For example, older houses, like the on I live in, only has 2-pronged outlets. This means that I have to plug in my air conditioner in a whole different outlet from my TV and DVD player as to avoid blowing a fuse. Ground electrical systems are safer and newer houses have this type of electrical system. Finding ways to install ground electrical systems to older houses is an idea.
